Hi all, this is my first post.
I have 350D and some M42 lenses. I have two problems for you to help me out.
1) Let me know the best way to use the in body metering system for these lenses.

2) I also found out that they are prone to flares (lights coming from side). Most probably they are for the scratches in the lenses. Do you all face the same problem for old lenses having some scratches?

Thanks.

hi, welcome to the forum. these are my recommendations:
1) use center-weighed metering, and check each lens stopped down (the camera will have trouble with stopped-down metering after f/5.6 or so, you'll need to learn how much to adjust depending on the lens). I've found old cameras to be much better when metering stopped-down.

2) Use a hood or your hand to shade the lens. If the scratches are deep and keep being a problem you can paint them black, it will keep flare in check and it won't have much impact on the image (it will be better than having a scratch anyway). If the lens is cheap just buy another one.
