Well, I apologize as it's a personal question. He did mention a
fiancee, however. Wink

No problem with the question Bill Smile
I used to be married. It didn't stick.

Now I have a fiancée (also divorced) who lives in Parma which is 30 km from here. We can not live together because she has her work there and I have my old parents here that I have to be near to in case of need.

So we live on our own and we meet when we feel like, usually on the weekends. We find this ok for the moment - and we both are also enjoying some privacy after years of marriage - our relationship is a solid one so we don't necessarily have to live under the same roof to keep it together, although someday that will happen for sure.

But I don't think we'll marry again - she was burned deep by the divorce, even after almost 8 years that we are together she is still hurt. I got over it better. I came to the conclusion that since my previous wife left me, then she did not deserve me and so as far as I am concerned she can happily and joyously go to h*** Embarassed oops sorry Laughing Laughing

Orio, you know I wish you the best and glad you've found someone for
a life's companion. My wife is exactly "half a world away" (there's a song
by Esthero I like by that name) in other words, 12 hours difference in
time. I have a half-brother (same mother) that came out of the woodwork
after many years of sporadic communication (last time was over 5 years
ago, a short "hello" phone call) who has COPD and wants me to move
to Oregon so I'll be visiting him this summer and my stepdaughter in
Portland. If I do move, it will have to be towards the end of the year or
first of next.

Got a question for you. I must be getting old because I remember the
damndest things lately. I remember a conversation my uncle (my mom's
older brother) telling my dad that he and his wife live like an Italian couple, separate
bedrooms. He might've said they follow the Italian custom of separate bedrooms.
Is this true? He then told my dad that he has a "permanent boarding pass" when
the situation arises. I was maybe 12 or 13 years old, long time ago.

Well done, Orio! This is the best way to deal with it.
As far as I can say, you are a very nice, reliable and intelligent person. You deserve somebody who deserves you!

After my former "girl-friend" had quit our long relationship, I also asked what I had done wrong. Later, I've met my wife, she's perfect for me. I love her like I have never loved a person before. And this taught me to be grateful to my former "girl-friend", because only since she's left me, I had the chance to meet my wife! You know what I mean?

No, this is unfunded. Normally couples here sleep in the same bed. Sometimes however my girlfriend protests because I snore so I have to reach my usual single bedroom, Laughing

Actually what you say is funny because people of a certain generation (let's say the generation of my parents) think that the split beds are an American tradition, LOL - this because they saw the split beds in the older movies - which takes us to an interesting reflection: what if people in the future had to judge social uses from the movies, like we do for instance about the social uses of Romans from the paintings? Maybe somebody will tell them that the split beds in the older American movies were there because of the censorship of the time... or maybe not, and they will think that this is the way that married people normally sleep in the society of the early 20th century.... funny Very Happy

Well, what to say, I'm blushing Embarassed thanks Carsten!!

Actually, I will copy this and paste it a bit somewhere over the apartment, like on post-its, framed, etc. so that Monica will appreciate what she has now, Laughing Wink

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.
Also, another thing is true for me, and this is that no experience in life is totally negative. We can learn a lot from negative experiences and grow as persons out of them. I strongly believe that. I learned from my mistakes and I think I am a better person now than I used to be.

Also, outside of the jokes that I say sometimes, I am not a person who is able to carry the resentment for a long time. Over the time, I tend to treasure only the good moments and remember them, and let the others wash away, like the rain.
