I love this lens! Just arrived and here's some shots towards dusk:

Serial # starts out 19xxxxx, so not the last, but barrel looks/feels like
mostly plastic, but that's OK with me! Small almost pancake size.

Bill

EDIT: First pic was oversharpened, no sharpening in LR, and only USM
once in PS at 35/1/0.

Looks GREAT!
Sharp with vivid colors.

Yes, love the colors, and no, zero, saturation used. Cool

One of the best 50mm lens and people are not really respect, because quiet common. Nice samples!

Great samples, sharp lens and your cat is still the star, he looks like a slightly annoyoed Clark Gable! Laughing

Laughing Thanks, Orio and Attila! The cat looks annoyed because I was trying
to make him keep his eyes open for the shot!

Man you scored! This does not look like a $15 lens as you paid for it. Nice shots Bill looking forward to more Cool I hope you find the 3.5/28 as proficient.

superb bargain Bill!
sharp results and nice bokeh

Andy and Poilu, thanks for you comments! I think I just found my favorite
50. I was going cross-eyed trying to pick one pic over the other in sharpness, finally gave up and picked these three. It's the best I have in
bokeh and color in a 50, too.

Thanks again,

Bill

Did you take those pictures with an Olympus? Curious what systems can adapt those pretty OM lenses.

The cat is quite cute Smile

Very sharp!

Looks like a good one Bill.

Your cat does look like he is having a hard time keeping his eyes open.

Lovely..... And what a superior looking cat. Smile

Enjoy the Zuikos. There are some more you know... Wink

they look really good

too bad they can't be used on a Pentax ( or can they? )
- you make me want to eventually get a digital Canon or Oly body

cheers,
Andreas

Thanks, folks, the camera I'm using is the lowly Oly e300, no focus confirm
adapter, yet. This is just a start to my Zuiko collection, waiting for a 28/3.5
to arrive.

Fantastic shots, both technically and interestingness wise.

Sadly, my Zuiko 50/1.8 is my ONLY Zuiko without a lazy diaphragm. The 50/1.4 and 85/2 both suffer from this. Seems to be a weak point with the mount?

They can ... If you change the mount. The Olympus register is 46mm, thus compatible with Pentax.

Congrats, Bill. Most 50s are very good, and the Zuiko 50 is one of the best. Amazing bang for the buck.

Just look for a Olympus FTL lens. These lenses are rather uncommon but their big advantage is that they come in M42 mount. I have the 28/3.5 and 135/3.5 FTL. Both are superb lenses. There were also a 35/2.8, 50/1.8, 50/1.4 and 200/4 made by Olympus in M42 mount but I don't have them.

Here's a link about the interesting Olympus FTL: http://www.biofos.com/cornucop/ftl.html

Cheers!

Cheers! Pedro! Smile Be sure to post some pics when you get the lens. That
40D will make this lens shine!

This is also one of my best 50mm. I just love it's bokeh!
