My earliest copy was until now, 1955 lens, I bought an 1951 lens yesterday, rangefinder lens converted to M42 decades ago due no visible difference between mount and lens other parts. What is your earliest Jupiter 9 ?

The 1963 GOI catalog lists the Jupiter 9 as an August, 1948 design. So that's the earliest possible.

Untill 1951 was only ZK's. Catalog only refer to the date when formul was calculed (or "re-calculed" Rolling Eyes )
1951 is the first year of production for Jupiter-9 under this name. Original mount was Kiev or LTM mount?
Congratz for this lens, I guess it will be a good performer!

My oldest (and only one) is sadly from 1964 Smile (Kiev mount)

I think RF version are older than SLR one's (like the Mir's one). They first made them for Zorki/Kiev. The first zenit (Zenit-C) was created in 1955 (was just a Zorki with reflex cage). So no SLR Jupiter-9 were made before 1955.

yes. slim tall is RF,.short fat is SLR , they are not identical. I like RF lenses much more

Is it still in pproduction, I have a 1992 lens.

The lens is not in production. I talked with the factory representative in person 2 years ago at Photokina, and he said there is no demand for new Jupiter's, probably because of the second-hand market. He also said that if they receive an order (minimum quantities can be discussed), the factory can still produce them.

That said, I bought my MC Jupiter-9 brand new. It's made in year 2000. Probably production stopped around that time, maybe in 2000-2003. There are so many used copies floating around that I don't see the factory resuming production any time soon...

I was myself suprised to see it on KMZ site (lens even wear LZOS logo on the photo). But yes, I just noticed that when you click on "order now", it leads to nothing Confused

Oh, come on! In Russia, the 1966 Fiat 124 is produced as "LADA Classic" up to these days:

Does it make the Fiat an all-times classic car? Sure it'll become retro in another 50 years or so, but in today's Russia it's just a go-around car for the low-middle class... a sub-standard go-around car by today's standards if you ask me.
