That's an awesome looking basement. My wife says "Why can't you scale down to this size?"

Thanks a serious man-cave there!
Some curious thing to spot from the photos like the Olympus 35 SP.

What are those crates? They seem perfect for lenses.
Did you make those compartments yourself?

The Really Useful Box company. The big ones are the 21 litre with two removable trays for 24 small lenses or one tray for 8 longer lenses. These are great boxes, very strong. I can use them in the back of my 4x4, and sit and stand on them, haven't broken one yet.

I use a lot of the smaller boxes for tripod heads, lens caps and all the other junk that seems to accumulate.

Can the Zorki 4K really do 4K?

PostPosted: Mon Dec 21, 2015 2:23 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Tip: Sell everything you will never use again anyway and buy expensive lenses for that money Wink Saves a lot of space
That's what I did, now everything fits into 3xIkea Kallax Boxes instead of a huge cabinet Wink

Yes, with enough film, good digitalisation and good lenses easily beat quality of most 4k porns with that camera Wink

Yes, that's what's going to happen very soon. I have over 200 lenses here that I've enjoyed but now rarely use so it's time to pass them on. And a lot of the cameras will go as well, I'm much more interested in the lenses than the cameras, most of which have come when I've bought full kits just to get a lens. But some will stay, like the fabulous Olympus 35 SP that chris_zeel spotted.

Oh, LLoyd, that is serious. I do like your brick bunker.

The only problem I see is, you seem to be ignoring the small things. That Minolta Bellows 100mm is just the thing. Attach it to a nice Nex or alpha 7 camera and take photos of the SMALL things. Its all about the small things in life. LOL (Nice collection, looks a lot like my den!)

Lloyd I love those divided totes. Are those a specialty item? Never seen anything like them.

Really nice boxes in UK!
Are there compartment for 300mm and 400mm too? Smile

Not only for lenses, I could use them for my kids' legos, but perhaps not electronic components.

That Olympus 35 SP is surely a special camera, how does it perform?

Have you used it much?
And how does the metering work?

They sell these boxes Internationally, and direct from the company as well.

There is a huge range of sizes, the ones I have with the partition trays are 21 litre. I have, with power tools, removed some of the walls of the trays to make long sections for long lenses, but it is a bit of a job.

Surely someone has already figured out how to remove that lens from the 35 SP ?????

PostPosted: Tue Dec 22, 2015 3:23 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

I want those boxes. Only problem is that it would then make my lens collection visible and my spouse will discover how many I really have!

What a fun thread. I feel so normal all of a sudden- it's all relative isn't it.
Lloydy, that is a ridiculous collection, but very well organized. I've been looking for a nice dust free display shelf for my beauties, as well as a nice way to store my less-desirables etc. i might have to do a variation on your idea.

The Olympus 35-SP is a joy, it really is. It's the first rangefinder with spot and average metering - and it's accurate, it's beautifully made, has a super smooth shutter and a fabulous 42 / 1.7 lens. I've got all manner of other film cameras here, but this is the one that I will never sell.
