Nikon 50mm 1.8 question.

I recently bought one of these in a nearly new condition. It has a chrome ring in the middle, the serial nr. starts with 27 and it focuses down to 2 feet. Is this a good or bad lens in this category? I paid about $36.- for it.

Sounds like it might be a Series E lens.
These are very good and your price is also.
Shoot it and see if you like it

According to the above listings, it does appear that you lens is a Series E f/1.8. If it is a Series E lens, though, it will say so on the front bezel.

The Series E lenses were introduced with the Nikon EM I think, and the "E" stands for Economy. Optically they're fine lenses; they just aren't built as robustly as the regular Nikkors are.
