Hi!
I was very lucky to found this beautiful piece of glass (in mint condition) and for a quite "reasonnable" price Very Happy ...
Here are my first shots with this lens, all wide open, without PP & sharpen, just raw converted and resized :
Pictures 1 till 7 from a Christmas event in Kampen:

2/

3/

4/

These three pictures were made in quite difficult condition with bad light, very cold weather and it was also very busy so no way to move in order to get better view Confused ..but it was a very impressive "fire" spectacle!

And some in day light:

You are right, what is reasonable for me is may be not reasonable for all of us, so I could better say "a reasonable price for me" Wink !
I paid 215€ for this lens (as "NEW"!), incl. a B&W UV filter and a cup of coffee ... Very Happy

Thanks all for your nice comments Smile ....

I have not used this lens, as I have always owned the slower Nikkor 135mm lenses (2.8Q, 3.5 Ai, 2.8 Ai-S) and as they sell for peanuts (50-90 EUR) I have not considered the faster f/2 version.

The rendering of the lens looks very pleasing to my eye, congratulations on the price as well (I also think it was a good price). These in particular show very nice fingerprint:

Thanks Vilhelm!
It's for sure a very nice lens but it doesn't have this "magic" rendering from the (much cheaper) Nikkor 2,5/105mm for exemple. At f3,5, it's also probably not better than the 3,5/135mm but it's often the case with fast lens, isn't it?! It's still be very usable at f/2 and that's make the lens interesting I think, when you need such fast lens of course.....
I bouhgt it not because I realy need it (I have already enough lenses Embarassed ...) but because it was in such good condition and for a price under the market value I guess, so it's probably a good investment as a collector item.....

very good purchase for that price, I agree.

From what experience and sources I have available, yes it's true at f/3.5 the 135/2 Ai is probably not really better than the 135/3.5 Ai (or 135/2.8Q), but the 135/2 Ai gives you f/2, which is far more useful than f/3.5 or f/2.8... In addition, the 135/2 Ai should outperform the 135/2.8 Ai-S, which is a little weaker than the other Nikkor 135mm lenses.

Except for the extreme corners, the 135/2 Ai should be very good (as in print large) already wide open. Sweet spot reportedly is f/4 to f/5.6.

I love the composition and the bokeh of #10 !!!
B&W is a perfect choice for it also.
What a photo!

Great series with a truly superb lens. Now pair it with the 105/1.8 and you will be able to beat the world, especially with portraits.
