A hood is a good idea for this one.
Just something for me to file away in my memory for when there's no time for extension tubes.

I have tried landscapes with it at f5.6 and f8.
The "K" based 50mm F2 leaves this one far behind when it comes to landscapes.
I really haven't done much with it on film, which of course may be a completely different story.

Well, mine is significantly sharper than the Leica Summicron R I, for instance. I'll test it soon, against some other good 50, I have some. |

The old F2 is a huge improvement over the edges of the F1.4.
I was sure I had posted results of a somewhat similar test almost 7 months ago here, but cannot find it. 
The 1.4 handles high lights a lot differently.
All images have no manipulation other than the crops you see here, and re-sizing to meet forum parameters.
The 1.4 knocks the F2 out of the ball park with the MFD imagery though- by quite a margin.
