Another company milking the hype on the market, like the new Meyer Trioplan 100... Twisted Evil

+1. ..and the pricing for all these new lens versions is really something absurd. Rolling Eyes

hype is one part of the game, but small series the other one,
don´t matter why it is too expensive
this lens will most probably only be bought by people who do not know that
the real "new" version, made by Zeiss is just € 300.- more expensive

If people are willing to buy them, then I can't really blame them for the pricing. If they are using modern, decent glass (like Schott for example) then the prices are competitive with Zeiss and cheaper than the somewhat mundane Canon and Nikon pro lenses.

Given the huge number of new old stock, unused optical blocks for J8s and J12s for sale on ebay, I wouldn't be surprised if these 'new' lenses are just the result of someone unearthing a cache of old, unused J3 blocks.

Possible indeed, when Soviet Union collapsed lots of material went to private hands for peanuts, but I think these are brand new lenses just like Petzval made by Lomo , which is excellent lens.

I wonder if this drives up the price of the old J3s or lowers it...

I think difference is huge enough to not impact old lens price.

Well, look what happend to the Trioplan. Trioplan was a 2-300$ lens for a long time and suddenly you could get 7-800$. This can actually push the value a little, but mayby not by much as the J-3 is a much more common lens than the Trioplan.
