Oh Boy!

Nikon Nikkor H.C 50mm F2 (no AI). bought a couple of weeks ago (56USD) and just got the Nikon EOS adapter late this afternoon so I snapped a few shots in the late afternoon.

I shot at ASA 400 because it was getting dark and there was wind so I needed speed.

Hidden House

Caladiums

I do like this lens. Now I have to be watching for great Nikon Lenses!

Cheers

Jules

The Nikkor 2/50 is a great little lens, I used to have it. You will enjoy it.

Nice results. The f2 is a seriously under-rated lens.

Thanks much friends,

I got the lens after I read some good reports on it here and it was fairly inexpensive. I think it will go into my "keeper" bag.

It's my first 50mm "good" lens on a 40D and I must get used to this focal length. I shoot mostly shorter or longer lenses. The distance from the subject is the challenge!

Looks like it does a really nice job Jules. I have to get used to the 1.7/50mm yashica that I bought when I have time to use it. Seems I'm always too close or too far away.

Ha Ha, yes! On my EOS1 film camera it's great but on the crop camera it's another issue.

I would be very surprised if anyone were ever dissatisfied with this lens. It is one of the great classic lenses. I also bought one a while back in pre AI mount to use on my Panasonic L1 with a Nikon to 4/3 adapter. I loved it so much that when I saw an AI conversion kit turn up on eBay I bought one and converted my lens to AI so I could mount it on my D70s (even though the D70s will not meter with non-chipped lenses.) It is a lens that is well worth owning and dirt cheap to buy.

I also own an AF 50mm f 1.8 (said to be optically equivalent to the earlier f2) that also produces wonderful shots. And I bought it for a song - I think well less than 100 bucks Australian second hand in a camera store. The lens is in near mint condition and produces great photos. This class of lens has been a classic from go to whoa! However while the later lens is probably technically better, my personal favorite is the early one which produces especially nice black and white photos.
