Mount a decent zoom on this and it would make a super P&S and might even hit the G9 in that respect.

Interesting that it's *only* 10Mp too....

I don't get it Confused

How many entry level DSLR camera bodies does Canon need on the market? The marketing dept. at Canon makes some bad decisions in my view. XT, XTI, XSI, D1000 that makes four. Plus they still ship new 30D bodies.

They want to intercept the segment of the market that usually buys compact cameras, and drag them into the reflex market, where they can sell them lucrative lenses.

The 450D is price tagged a bit too high for that purpose.

Pure commercial move. Confused

They need to compete against the cheap Nikon D40. The problem is not only that of selling the cameras, it's also that all those newcomers will stick to the system they choose (Canon or Nikon) for a long time, buying more of their products.
