In the spirit of "any advice or suggestion", typical procedure is to contact the seller, yes? _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, just take another shot. |

First Big Thanks to all who replied to my obvious panic about my Leica M8 and the big technical problem that came up and took me by surprise and then some. A little History on this, I just bought it last Nov. 2014 and had been looking at it for a several weeks at that time not really thinking I would be purchasing and then really appreciating what shots I was getting I instantly fell for this thing hook , line and sinker. Now after buying I got a tele elmarit 90/2.8 thin and was out of the gate so to speak with this. I did not get a UV/IR filter with it and was wowed by the B/W of it and really liked the Color side with the saturation and contrast I completely forgot about 35mm.
Part two is I took it with me on my trips (I drive a big truck) and was using it to the best of my ability ( I bought an Electro 35 GSN and had a Canonet 17 for awhile and have always liked shooting wide. I usually use my Canon 5D and was going to upgrade until I bought the Leica almost out of the blue. Then this happened and because of the reply from MF Lenses it has helped to get to the otherside. I am taking the plunge and sending to NJ Leica. Was able to ask the righr Leica questions and have a half case and filter on the way.
I will be sending in soon and will get back through this Post to let you know what has happened. Thanks again everyone was much appreciated. Apolgies to the Admin for panic stricken crazy poster my apologies. Lazlo _________________ dave |

Hi, Just wanted to Post about my repair for my M8. The Drive block/Shutter Fail was fixed with an upgrade of shutter and re-map plus a CLA to camera also included was an anthracite covering replacement and now the M8 seems to be up and running with some spectacular shots the way it was before.
It was returned in 5 weeks and total cost was $913.00 US. I am very happy with results and have found out that an upgrade puts the M8 out of a danger zone I do not want again. I have read the solenoid is perhaps a problem but am going to enquire if it had been looked at which I believe it would have been. I found Leica USA to be very helpful and am very happy to have sent to them.
Keeping fresh batteries available and maintaining the status quo for shooting now, it was completely unexpected when the 8 failed and had bought just about one month before that. So I was distressed (did know the history of where my 8 had been and I was the 3rd owner and still am). I love the camera and getting some P/W's for it to celebrate the re-union. Thanks for the assist and hope you realize this was an unexpected pattern to run into I have had other Digital cameras as well. Back at it now and enjoying the M8 again. (With one year warranty on everything). Dave _________________ dave |
