Hi all,

I have been lurking here for a while, asking questions, learning about all these beautiful old lenses.

So i thought it was time to post a pic. I have read the guidelines, but decided to crop the photo 50% so it would fit on most peoples screens.

This was taken in the "Queen Victoria Gardens" Melbourne. I was shooting with my Sigma SD14 with Leica R mount by Sigma Cum Laude. The lens was a Leica Vario Elmar 35 - 70 f4 ROM.

Shutter speed was 1/200th, ISO 100 and i think f8, one of the problems with MF... no exif, so i am going from memory here, so don't quote me Very Happy

I decided to process it as a B&W, as tonally it worked.

C&C welcome and appreciated, be honest i have thick skin and i want to improve.....

Welcome !

You made a great shot there, very well balanced composition for my taste. I am not into B&W photography but what my feeling says to me is that the B/W processing is done very well too Very Happy

Looking forward for more semples with this lens.

Cheers
Tobias

Agree with Tobias - that's a fascinating combo. The sigma is famous for its colour rendition, so I always enjoy seeing samples from that machine

I'll post the color version tonight as it is one of the foveon's strengths, b&w was achieved by simply setting monochrome white balance.

I am amazed by how sharp this lens is for a zoom, edge to edge is very good, and the color from the leitz glass is fantastic, very different to the Sigma lenses i used before.

Thanks for the replys.

Thanks Klaus,

Here is the color version, i have played with the levels slightly, the same adjustment for both versions, simply B&W/Color, i dropped the shadows to separate the subject from the background. No sharpening.

In most cases I think color version is better than B&W. Nice entry to Gallery, many thanks!
