Thanks Attila, that's a great book. I shall buy it, because it looks like one of these reference books that I like to read and read again until I know them by heart. It will be in good company with my Kingslake books.

Its great to have the whole book online. Interesting reading.

Also, as its electronic, I was able to search it and determin that bokeh or boke does not occur. Which seems to suggest that optimising it is a non-goal in terms of computer design. Is it fair to say that the computer programs the author describes optimise solely the plane of maximal focus?
