A stunner of a day here so my Russian mirror lens, the MC 3M-5CA was taken out for a walk in the park to take pics of some of the more co-operative bird life. I've added an el cheapo lens hood to help with the loss of contrast and was more then a little pleased with how the lens performs. All pics hand held @ ISO 800

Moira, you'll love the lens for its weight, it is ever so light, heaps of turn in the focus ring as well which is what I like in longer lenses for a bit of fine tuning. At f8 as the fixed aperture it needs decent light so a perfect lens for our bright spring and summer days. Minus a hood and the contrast will suffer.

How light are we talking? less than a Hefty Soligor 90-230 or 300mm?Sounds perfect....thanks for the extra details!..any more shots? Very Happy

Here's a couple where the birds were kind of into the foliage so not quite there.
Butcher bird in a casuarina.

Black cockatoo, yellow tail, same deal, couldn't get the ideal line. BTW only the second time sighted in the park and the weird thing is the first time was when I first time this lens went to the park.

Nothing shabby about the ones in the foliage...that's what I love about MF lenses you can focus always on the bird without the pain of the AF hunting for the focal point....this always happened on my Olympus P & S.
