That Tamron SP may be the earlier model... The newer model is tested in
http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/46-nikon--nikkor-aps-c/286-tamron-500mm-f8-sp-macro-adaptall-to-nikon-review--test-report
page under Nikon and it got MTF50 in LW/PH
Centre: 1551
Border: 1436
Canon 400 5.6L
f/5,6 f/8
Centre: 1657 1767
Border: 1655 1767
And 400mm shold be about same in resolution as 500mm.
That test was showing some other mirrors giving 2 times the resolution as Tamron so I wonder what 500mm lens would give MTF resolution of 3000
and even mirror? _________________ Camera:EOS 20D

The 3M5CA is absent in this test, darn it. But, I guess the best "test" of all is whether or not it personally pleases me.
So far, the 3M5CA seems quite nice, and I'll have a better basis for an opinion once I use it for more images. _________________

Not that much :
Click here to see on Ebay
A quick sharpen test of my two last mirror lenses (click for full size pics) :
#1 Tokina RMC 500/8, OM mount (ISO 400):
2/ Vivitar "Solid Cat" 600/8, T/M42 mount (ISO 100)
The first tests I did with the Viv Solid Cat some weeks ago shown me a poor lens, but this one make me feel better. Next tests will involve MTO 3M-5CA too as a reference. _________________ Switching from M42 to Minolta MD & Contax/Yashica |
