I have a chance to buy this lens in local photo shop. Price is 50 GBP should I buy it ? How easy to sell it ? I would just make same test shoots and let it go, because on my Olympus no chance to use as wide angle lens. Please let me know what you think ? Lens is a pre-set lens in excellent almost MINT condition.

It's a long time I am after this lens
I am tempted to say 'buy it for me..."
But 50 pounds is not a small price, even for mint...

I have to think about it.

Hi, Attila!

The MIR-10A is a 28mm f3.5 lens. Kadlubek estimates it at about € 40,-.
But Russian lenses sometimes are sold for more than it is said in Kadlubek's catalogue (e.g. the Jupiter-9 is estimated at € 50,-)

Most russian sellers demanded around 100 USD. If it's like mint I would think about it. I've never seen it for Kadlubecks 40 Euros.

It's one of my favourite lens although the results vary very much. With perfect light conditions you will got perfect results. In german a "Schönwetterobjektiv" (Something that can't be translated literally I think - a "nice weather lens").

*ooops* - misunderstanding Very Happy . I wanted to say: If I were you, I would think about it if it's like mint. For myself I didn't need a second copy.

Exactly, Michael!
Kadlubek estimates many lenses way too high, but not Russian glass. You often need to pay more than he guessed.
I think that people have increasingly appreciated Russin quality sinc his catalogue was published some years ago!
Thus the prices got higher.

Thanks for You, Michael, Orio and perhaps many other forum members who are love Russian lenses. To save them only the way to increase their prices.

The price high, at us it approximately costs from 30 up to 50 $. Quality of photos an average, weight and the sizes greater, noticeably loses Takumar 28/3.5.

There is a phrase - fairweather friend - so I guess fairweather lens might be a good way to put it.

Richard if Attila doesn't want your lens I'd be interested. Smile

I have the lens and it is very very impressive. Incredible close focus. It performs well close up though I've not seen great things at infinity. Its probably not the sharpest 28mm in the world but it has much much better corner performance than my pentacon 30mm. I think the "fair-weather" observation points to its huge front element. It is quite prone to flare. Though with a wide-angle 67mm hood it is good to go. It is a heavy lens, particularly front heavy so it will tip the camera forward if you don't hold onto it. It has the star-shaped iris that many Russian lenses are well known for. I bought mine for 60USD including shipping but it didn't have the filters or case. The lens is mint though.
