After much complications ( Rolling Eyes ) I finally have my new to me Minolta MD 100mm/2.5. Looks really good and will nicely complement my Minolta film trinity kit (28-50-100). Smile

But I'm ill and stuck at home so the only thing I can test it on is... the cat. Razz

Nice acquisition Miran, but you will have to show more photos!

I had such lens long ago Very good but the MFD was too much for me then (frequently on a sailing boat, not much space availeble in it).
So I traded the lens in for a 85mm 1.7.

Nice picture of the cat.
But that claw coming forward .. is he (she) really friendly?

You're gonna love the 100, my guess is you have been bitten by the Minolta bug as well, soon you "need" them all! Very Happy

The 100 2.5 is a joy, a superb lens in every way. Cool

Ha, more photos when I'm able to go out to take some. Sad
The cat is neither friendly nor unfriendly. It's a cat, which means it just doesn't care. Razz
I've had Minolta lenses (and cameras) for many years now. But mostly the common cheap stuff.

I fear OH has right. I get a kind of jealous feeling that I don't have the 100mm anymore!
Absolute nonsens, becausee I have both the 85mm and the 100mm macro.

I like this lens too, esp. it's small size and telescopic buil- in hood.As far as IQ,I found both MD Tele Rokkor 100/2.5 55mm and late MC Tele Rokkor 100/2.5 55mm (optically the same 5/5 lensers, slightly better wide open,i.e. a tad less CA and higher contrast.

The rumors in differents forums: the last MC with the newer formula (tipical MD) is the best alternative.

My dream is the old MC 100/2. I have seen some pictures taken with it (here in this forum) and they are as excellents as the zeiis or leica lenses.

I have one converted to EOS and has lots CA. You have reduced chromatic aberration?
Thanks.

Like Dog

Outstanding!

I also like Minolta lenses. I got to try the older MC Rokkor on my a6000 and it was sharp! I think I shouldn't have opened this thread. Very Happy

I don't have the 100mm (yet!) but the minoltas I have are all quite good. Some are excellent. I was actually quite pleased at the IQ of the 500mm AF reflex lens (which I got at a little over 100 USD as the filter tray was missing. Covered it with black painted alum and tape and it seems to work just fine on AF on the A7ii.

I picked up the MC 100mm f2.5 for a criminally low amount of money a while back, but as my only full frame camera is a Nikon, and my Nikkor 105 f2.5 AI is one of my favorite lenses, I haven't really used it yet. It is such a lovely item that I do sometimes take it out and turn the ring back and forth...

The few 100's I've got, are all different , the MD is the most i love of all of them, even though I'm taking it out not much because it's got a bit stiff focus, but pristine condition otherway.

I'll find time to compare the Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 vs Rokkor 100mm f/2.5 MC.

Example shot with A7R II at closest possible distance (apprx. 90 cm) wide open at F2.5.
Really nice bokeh and phantastic resolution, way beyond the 42MP sensor. Great lens.
