But I'm ill and stuck at home so the only thing I can test it on is... the cat.

I had such lens long ago Very good but the MFD was too much for me then (frequently on a sailing boat, not much space availeble in it).
So I traded the lens in for a 85mm 1.7.
Nice picture of the cat.
But that claw coming forward .. is he (she) really friendly? |

The cat is neither friendly nor unfriendly. It's a cat, which means it just doesn't care.
I've had Minolta lenses (and cameras) for many years now. But mostly the common cheap stuff. _________________ my flickr stream |

I like this lens too, esp. it's small size and telescopic buil- in hood.As far as IQ,I found both MD Tele Rokkor 100/2.5 55mm and late MC Tele Rokkor 100/2.5 55mm (optically the same 5/5 lensers, slightly better wide open,i.e. a tad less CA and higher contrast.

The rumors in differents forums: the last MC with the newer formula (tipical MD) is the best alternative.
My dream is the old MC 100/2. I have seen some pictures taken with it (here in this forum) and they are as excellents as the zeiis or leica lenses. |

I don't have the 100mm (yet!) but the minoltas I have are all quite good. Some are excellent. I was actually quite pleased at the IQ of the 500mm AF reflex lens (which I got at a little over 100 USD as the filter tray was missing. Covered it with black painted alum and tape and it seems to work just fine on AF on the A7ii. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

I picked up the MC 100mm f2.5 for a criminally low amount of money a while back, but as my only full frame camera is a Nikon, and my Nikkor 105 f2.5 AI is one of my favorite lenses, I haven't really used it yet. It is such a lovely item that I do sometimes take it out and turn the ring back and forth... |

The few 100's I've got, are all different , the MD is the most i love of all of them, even though I'm taking it out not much because it's got a bit stiff focus, but pristine condition otherway. |

Really nice bokeh and phantastic resolution, way beyond the 42MP sensor. Great lens.
