This is just for fun so don't take it serious. Smile All shots handheld so the angles are differnt. Shot with Canon EOS 10D with macro adapter. It would be difficult to do this test with a tripod because of the adapter, and what it does to usable distances with lenses.
Shot at ISO 400, so don't judge the shots by sharpness. This is mainley to show the rendering differences between these 2 lenses.
No PP.

Any Comments and Critiques are welcome.
1st lens is the Minolta MD, Cosina made, 28-70 3.5-4.8. Shot at 70mm f8.
2nd lens is the Minolta MD, BeerCan, Leica, 70-210 f4. Shat at 70mm f8.

Minolta Cosina.

This set of images are the same as above with identical PP done to each shot.
As before Minolta Cosina first, and Minolta Leica second.

Both lenses look quite good. I personally struggle to see any difference.

Thank you. I wasn't sure how close they would be in performance but I'm quite happy with both lenses. Very Happy

The next shots in my informal test are wide open on both lenses at 70mm.
First is the Minolta Cosina at 70mm f3.5, second is the Minolta Leica at 70 mm f4. Minor PP identical for both lenses.
Any Comments and Critiques are welcome. Smile

Rendering to me seems very close. I don't see any reason, yet, that these 2 lenses couldn't be used as a matched set. What do you think? The next shots I do will be at a lower ISO with tripod so they should be better. Smile
There is one big difference in these 2 shots.
Crop of the Minolta Cosina shot.

Looks like six of one & half dozen of the other as mother would say.

Thanks Ron. What started this is I don't have the MD 35-70 3.5 lens yet. I remember reading on another forum where a guy had both the Minolta 28-70 3.5-4.8 and the Minolta 35-70 3.5 and he couldn't tell them apart image wise except wide open. I'm beginning to believe that.
Atleast it look like I can use these as a matched pair, anyway. Very Happy
