Gifted to me recently with a box of old film SLR's, this lens did not fit anything that I normally shot - Pentax/Nikon.
However with the X-E1 it is a different story. A cheap adapter - Minolta AF to FX - and we are good to go.
This lens is now totally manual, hence its listing here.
Forgive the noise - I shot these at ISO 1600 to get a usable shutter speed - which was still only 1/80sec, but a tripod helped.
Here we go.

And patience plus a good timing! That small birds are mostly rather quicksilvery.
Great job done.

Thanks fellas.
What really surprises me about this lens is its (mostly) ease of use. It is very light for what it is.
If it has a niggle it would be the short focus throw in manual focusing. This can be a little deadly - ie easy to go either side of the point of focus by just breathing heavily with fingers on the focus collar.
Other than that it is a great lens

OK, the mandatory piccie of the lens.
here we go.
Please excuse any softness in the image - handheld at 1s is not my forte.

Want bokeh with that - haha

very good ....I have the manual version on SR mount ..i don't think it as sharp as yours ..but as you know good technique is madertery with mirror lenses and i have used it little ...i believe the MF lens is optically the same

The crop

At 60th of a second on a tripod but all unlocked so i can pan about

Yours looks OK Dave.
For close subjects, the DOF is very thin, so nailing focus can need tight concentration. The magnify view in LV or in the viewfinder on the X-E1 is a big help for this.
You can also increase apparent sharpness with a small adjustment to contrast sometimes.
Anyway, the lens is good and rewards practice.
Cheers

Only one from today - a common willie wagtail - also known as a black and white fantail.

Thank you for the compliment.
I went looking for brolgas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brolga today as I have seen them in the marshes before.
Sadly they were off somewhere else.
However we came across this lovely fellow sunning himself after a big meal.
I think he was between 1.5 and 2 metres in length.
He even posed for the picture.

Nice Red belly black snake? I have noted the snakes are out and about, as there are so many on the roads! Great shots as always. Like 1 small

Thanks Mo.
This lovely fellow had just eaten, and from the looks, it was another snake - a brown hopefully as the red-bellied blacks love browns for breakfast.
With a full tummy and some glorious morning sun, he wasn't going anywhere as long as we treated him with respect.
Quite the poser he turned out to be Smile

Wonderful pictures Tom, once again. That is a fine lens, I borrowed an adapter from Phil to try my lens and it worked perfectly, although the short throw of the focus is a pain compared to the manual Tamron and Canon 500's I've got. I was waiting for the price of the LAEA2 Sony adapter to drop, but I think I'll get a cheap adapter and use it manually for now.

Thanks Lloyd.
I only use a cheap adapter and manually focus the lens.
I would be lost without the magnification focus assist of the X-E1 though.
It is so easy to slightly miss focus with this lens without the focus assist.
