Wow. Revelation. I didn't think this was even relevant with MF lenses. IT IS.
I mainly rely on the chip focus confirmation when using my MF lenses, mainly because I don't have any stigmometer on my cameras and live view is not very easy to use.
Today I tried for the first time Lens Micro adjustement on my Canon Camera. This changes everything, my whole bag of lenses went from meh>very good to pretty good>excellent.
Here's an example on a Carenar auto 55m f/1.4. These two photos mixed into one have been shot wide open, with the focusing made only thanks to the chip focus confirmation. No cheating. Focus is on the house's center lit window.
The great thing is when I use this adjusted adapter on my other lenses, the increase focus performance is exactly the same.
If micro-adjustement is possible on your camera you probably shoud try it.

Much better! Which camera body is it that you have?
Unfortunately, all Canon models do not have this facility. |

correct microlens coordination is exactly why rangefinder lenses work better on the ricoh gxr m mount than any other digital camera (same for leica m8&9).

It's a 5d mark iii.
I made some repeated tests to make sure that it was no luck. It's not, the adjustment provides a real benefit. All this time I thought this lens was very soft wide open, never used it because of that. Now it is still soft obviously but it is now excellent for portraits.
Now my POV is if you use MF lenses only with focus confirmation chip you ought to look for models that provides this feature. _________________ M42 : Fujinon EBC W 35 1.9; Fujinon EBC T 135 2.5; aus Jena DDR Pancolar electric MC 50 1.8; Jupiter 11A 135 4; Kaleinar 5H MC 100 2.8; Pentacon auto 29 2.8 MULTI COATING; Pentacon auto 29 2.8 MADE IN G.D.R.; Pentacon auto MC 135 2.8 (made in Japan!?); Helios 44-2 58 2; Helios 44-4 58 2; Helios 44-5 58 2; Carenar auto 55 1.4; Industar 50-2 50 3.5; Super Takumar 28 3.5; SMC Takumar 35 3.5; SMC Takumar 55 1.8; Sigma Mini-Tele MC 135 3.5; Pentacon 200 4
