Well Sergei, I understand very well what you try to explain, but it is very hard to explain to others. It is more than looking at a picture, it is "seeing" it with your inner eye, and pictorial images work that way. You call it "soul" and this is very good, since you actually use your own soul to "see" the soul of an image, more precisely what it represents and what it does inside of you and with you when you see it...

If someone just sees an unsharp, soft image, well, not much can be done about it. It is not something that can be easily explained and then some "aha" effects happens and that same someone all of a sudden understands...

If someone gets reminded of fairy tales etc then you know that "it works" since the image then has resonated with that someones's inner images, memories etc.

There is an interesting quoto on wiki about pictorialism " For the pictorialist, a photograph, like a painting, drawing or engraving, was a way of projecting an emotional intent into the viewer's realm of imagination." (P. Daum, 2006) seen in:

The hardest part of this genre is to make a picture where the effect is integral part of it (where the effect actually
adds something to the image) and to not make a picture where the effect is just sticked over the image and
declares itself for what it is (an effect, a trick).

It may look simple, but it's very difficult.

Nordentro, kds315*, Orio, thank you for your attention!

Monolens allows me to better express and convey the mood and feelings from what I've seen. It's like a vision, a dream, a memory of our unconscious. (I have long studied Carl Gustav Jung) Smile
For me it is important show my feelings, attitude...

Very nice. Maybe too strong an effect for portraits but still I wonder how it might look?

A very interesting series of photographs, are these lenses cine type lenses? If not where are they usually found, projectors perhaps?

Hmm, interesting stuff. Portraits have a wet plate quality to them. A little pp could really bring it out.

That last shot of the house is deliciously haunting.

Sources for meniscus lenses are various. But none are hard to get. Some desirable ones are on old Kodak folders, FPK's using 127 film particularly as they had shorter focal length. Longer focus ones were on 120/620 Brownies, etc.
I used just a closeup filter, that's a meniscus lens. I have heard of people using magnifying glasses. You could also check with Anchor Optics for any FL meniscus you can think of. Use them wide open for super soft or if you make a stop for it it would sharpen up. This is a very easy field to experiment in.

GoldMark, nothing special. One rear lens projection lens Triplet 78/2.8 turned and left in place, the rest removed. Photo maybe later
