Nothing special but I enjoyed shooting with the MD 200mm f4 a couple of weekends ago at an event for the anniversary of Second Manassas. A bargain lens at 25 bucks or so.
Plenty sharp enough and easy to focus with on an A6500.

I enjoyed your photos! Thank you for sharing them.
Now that I also have a Sony, I'll be watching for Minoltas. (Sorry, Minolta fans!) |

The lighter one. Easy to hold and use even with the APSC cam and better balanced on the A7RII.
Thanks for the kind words. |

The first, heavy & long version (520g) of the Minolta 4/200mm (both MC and MD!) is the best vintage 200m lens i know.
I have compared it to the corresponding Nikkors (4/200 and 2.8/180 AF-ED), Canon FD (2.8/200 and 4/200), Canon new FD (2.8/200 IF and 4/200 IF), Mamiya CS (3.5/200) and E (4/200), Konica Hexanons (3.5/200 and 4/200) and Hexar (4/200), and even to the Zeiss CY Sonnar 2.8/180 (2nd version). No other lens had as little lateral CAs, and especially wide open it is has more detail than any of the other lenses mentioned above.
The Minolta AF 2.8/200mm APO is even better.

Mine is MD II version (513g) of MD 200mmF/4, the following pic is 100% crop of CN Tower (2.7 Km away)
and camera was Sony NEX-5 (APS-C). People on the tower are doing "Sky Walk" after paying Cad$170.
shot @F4, ISO 200, and 1/1250 sec. Pretty sharp lens. ($35 @2013)

Basically a cropped section of the total image (24x36mm in Full Frame for example) such that the resolution of the cropped portion is 100% or less compared to the display's resolution where the image is being viewed. So, the total resolution of an image is easily judged then. If the resolution of the crop was greater than the display's resolution then the image would be displayed at a reduced 'magnification'. This is assuming no pixel resizing has been done before. |
