Thanks! I was quite pleased. The ability to nail focus with magnification WITH focus peaking has greatly improved my ability to nail the focus. My keeper rate went up dramatically when I moved up from the Canon 60D. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

This one is especially problematic as it is the bellows mount version so its small but to use it you need even additional kit. This was via a7ii-fotodiox canoneos adapter, eos bellows then eos to minolta adapter then the lens! _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

I have the MD Rokkor 100mm F4 macro, and it is superb. And it's not nearly as heavy as the MC.(it weighs about 2/3 as much)

I picked up the Minolta MD 85mm F2 a few years back, here in Japan.... It cost the equivalent of around $15 USD !!!!
Superb, sharpness seems to be a little better than the MD 100mm F4 macro |

Certainly a good deal
Which camera did you use to compare the MD 4/100mm Macro and the MD 2/85mm? I really couldn't see much difference using 24MP full frame ... but using 24 MP APS-C or 36 MP / 42 MP FF things may be slightly different ...

Right - i forgot to clearly state that the tests were made at "infinity" (about 2 km between camera and subject). Of course the macro lenses will outperform th "not macros" at closer disances. And i was talking just about resolution. Testing / comparing bokeh, colors, distortion, vignetting and the like would be nice as well.

I have an A7 (amongst others).
I suppose I'm comparing the sharpness of the 85mm at F2 as similar to the sharpness of the 100mm macro at F4. I use the 85mm mostly at F2, so I guess it's more by implication that the 85mm at F4 is sharper than the 100mm macro at F4, than actual evidence!!! So that means I should do a test comparison,a nd post it!!! |
