I've been testing some of the lenses I put for sale (I don't want to sell bad stuff!)
So I took some shots of melissa on the balcony, with the Jupiter-21M 4/200 lens.
Here is a wide open shot, plus two 100% crops of it:

Excellent. I think Melissa is a spoiled little girl, just like our dogs.

Indeed!
This lens is what I consider a "best kept secret".
It is one of the non-contax lenses that perform more similar to what a real contax does.

On the barrel it's written 1.8 m., but to me it feels less (I have same feeling with other lenses also)

What kind of tripod did you use in this shots? Please don't tell me that you didn't use it. Please, in the compassion way.

The nice shots show a really great relation with melissa. Congratulations for both things.

I consider this lens is in my top five tele lenses ... from 85mm to 1000 ...
I'll never , never sell this authentic marvel ...

This is just ... awesome! Sorry for the "overused" word Orio, but MAN, what a beautiful output from this lens. I doubt that you could take a bad picture anyway... Cool

Yet another lens I knew nothing about, and now it's obvious why some are considering it in their top tier of lenses.

Only four? You must be holding back! Laughing

Orio, I see that there is a definite warm tone, evidenced by Melissa's white fur showing warm overtones...and it's a very nice look. Is the lens adding this, or is it something else? Or...maybe my own monitor?

The problem is that every time I got one, after some days a newer, shinier one would come up! Laughing

It's the lens. I see it on my monitor also and the monitor is calibrated.
My camera is set fixed to 5500K° so it records every shift from the 5500K white - and shifts may come from either the ambient light or the lens or both... in this case, the light was normal, so the lens is definitely responsible.
Leaving camera on AWB would get rid of that.

Orio indicated: Leaving camera on AWB would get rid of that.

I see. But, I would not want to get rid of that beautiful warmth!

Agree, amazing sharpness from this lens! You're not pulling a fast one and
using the makro-Planar, are you? Laughing

Bill, I'm not sure of what means pulling a fast one, but Laughing
