I think I have two of those, labeled Makinon unfortunately.
It says optics in good condition but there are clearly marks on the rear element.
He probably has to reduce the price to $450 |

More likely: someone got access to silkscreen printing. |

It seems to be a Hanimex lens (Makinons have three color stripes on the barrel) but that doesn't make this offer any more interesting |

I've seen similar price for some other lenses by sellers from Japan. I guess it is highly possible that

Although 10x price factor error is plausible, just an extra zero, it's hard to imagine someone that out of touch with the value of US Dollar.
Here is an example of definite error: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Exc-3-Canon-New-FD-50mm-f1-2-NFD-MF-Prime-Lens-SLR-35mm-from-Japan-115/223869604753
Should we.. should we tell her? She was probably very excited to find f1.2 lens for peanuts on local market and resell it.
But this lens comes with two dots, not one, I'm afraid. 1:2. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/curry-hexagon/ |

I see one in the eBay photos though. With this evidence it's hard to deny it's existence whether it is present in any museums or not.
I also see photos of FDn 50/2 here:
https://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/canon/fdresources/fdlenses/50mm.htm
http://lens-club.ru/lenses/item/c_5604.html
http://mihanev.ru/blog/canon-fd-50mm-f-2-0.html
As for the difficulty in obtaining one: there are more than 10 of them on the eBay right now, albeit at much more modest prices than the one in the listing above. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/curry-hexagon/ |

Here is another source on Canon FDn 50mm F2: https://www.flickr.com/photos/60780628@N08/8535583275/
The book says
Quote: |
This is a special lens for sale with BLACK AV-1. It is identical to the NEW FD 50 mm 1:1.8 except that the maximum aperture has been restricted to f/2.0 and the f/22 detent removed.

the crazier thing to me is that people appear to be paying $300+ for actual makinon-branded mirror lenses, which is preventing me from buying them for the $30 they're actually worth |

I have tried 3 different copies of lens, an Alpex, a Hanimex, and a k Mart Focal. The first two were somewhat worse than average even for a low end third party brand, but the focal was one of the best third party 28s I have tried. Which was somewhat surprising, I bought it for $1 + postage. So, although Makinon lenses are generally scoffed at, they can be very good if you get lucky. It still isn't worth what the seller wants though. |

Agree, i've got one of them (which is in fact nothing else than a nFD 50 mm f/1.8 with a reduction ring in front of the aperture). Anyway, 180 $ US is about 6 or 7 times the lenses value... |

Not that surprising - you are not the first to discover that they are actually one of the better generic 28's. |

Much rarer is the Makinon-Macro-Switar made by Alpa for Makinon.
