Hello, everyone.
recently I have been looking for a wide angle lenses with long focusing travel, like c-curtagon 35mm, and noticed the super Yashinon-R 35mm F2.8 is of such kind. While looking for this lens, I noticed that the Sankor/Spiratone also have a lens of almost identical construction. Were they manufactured by the same produced? |

Yes, Yashica bought generic lenses for its low-priced Yashinon-R brand, often Tokina presets, but others too, including this Sankor. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

That lens is often seen in the US as you note, in the Spiratone brand, but more often as Accura. Accura was the brand used for the distribution side of Spiratone, for sale through photo shops and other retail dealers. Spiratone was for direct mail order. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

I do notice different versions of Super Yashinon-R 35mm.
Maybe your is like the following? The focusing direction and distance marking are both different.
I can see that the Super Yashinon-R 35mm is quite sought after... |

how is the performance of this lens? I am looking for sth with long distance travel when focusing, not for marco purpose. I hope they can bring me the effect of distinguishing the subject from the background even with kind of large aperture setting. |

I have the Aetna (Terragon) version.
Aetna was another US importer.
Its identical to the Spiratone and Yashinon-R, by appearances anyway.
I dont think its a particularly good lens by conventional standards, the corners being rather poor even on APS-C, and it flares quite a bit. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Carl Zeiss Jena: Flektogon 35/2.8, 35/2.4, and Biotar 58/2, focus ring rotation is >300 degrees.
These are the ones I have in my collection that I can confirm:
35/2.8 http://allphotolenses.com/lenses/item/c_3859.html
35/2.4 http://allphotolenses.com/lenses/item/c_879.html

thanks, man. I shall see if can grab a 35/2.8. I have the cz 35/2.8-50/1.8-85/2.8 for rollei SL35. they are great lenses for me. I enjoy very much of using one lens walking around but the 35 seems to lack some characters. |
