A friend of mine consulted me after he had tested some 100 macro lenses to get the second version of the Elmarit-R 90mm. Wonderful tack sharp lens indeed. This is a EUR1500 lens, I found for much less in Holland later Mint in box and freshly serviced!

Sorry, not really what you wanted Attila, just a hint about another fine lens.

Attila today there was an excellent Macro Elmarit 60 for only 300 Euros. My heart's still crying because I couldn't take it home.
You don't need to spend 1500 to get a macro Leica.

I mentioned that it was a EUR1500 lens, NOT what I payed for my lens at all of course, that was around 360 if I remember correctly!!!

the R 100 2.8 is considered one of the best macro lens

Seems was most expensive I understood only this Embarassed , so this article say better than Kiron or Nikkor ?

With all due respect, if I look at the data how they did their tests for Macro, then all I can say is that they hardly have any clue what their are doing, runnig straight into diffration when stepping down that much.

Did you ever consider the S-Planar/Makro-Planar 2.8/100mm, with adaptor fits EOS perfectly for instance.

Link to data sheet is here, look at the MTFs:

I am planning to buy CZ lens step by when I can afford it. Macro lenses are not in priority, but who knows.

Hi Dr

Test are only test but if same procedure is done on all the lenses that can give some information

Those 22 years old test are not based on Mtf
One of the test was photographing a map, print it at 50x60 cm and give appreciations for 380 lenses
By "Performances macros" they only mean smaller aperture and they didn't made specific macro tests

faible : bad
moyen : medium
bon : good
tres bon : very good
excellent : excellent

centre : center
bord : border

I used one times Orio's Leica 90mm lens it not impressed me, I was so much amazed by CZ 135mm f2 and CZ 35mm f1.4. I am curious which one will go Kiron or Leica Smile I have on sale a Yashica 55mm f4 and I am sure I never sell my Micro Nikkor 200mm f4.

I have 105mm Micro Nikkor which I don't use.

I hardly have time for "normal" photography, I do too much UV. Very nice and sharp lens! You can have that if you help me find a Biotar 1.5/75mm in M42?!

The articles say the Nikkor beats the Leica.

I had this Nikkor and I rate also a bit above than Kiron, but Kiron has built in 1:1 so I kept Kiron. Let we see Leica.
