This is really an unique camera that is for sale on a photography website (I have no connection with the seller or the website): a Rokuoh-Sha type 89 "machine-gun" training camera. This model was made by Konishiroku (which later became Konica) from 1933 to 1944 to train airplane gunners. The camera, which shot 2.5m strips of 35mm film loaded in special cartridges, was mounted on training planes. Thanks to a spring-loaded drive, the gunner apprentices would "shoot" targets at 10 frames/second with the machine-gun replica. Because of the "half-frame" 18x24 picture format, the f/4.5 75mm Hexar lens was roughly equivalent to a 105mm telephoto. A f/4.5 14mm Hexar auxiliary lens was aimed at a stop watch dial set in a transparent tube on top of the main lens in order to record the time simultaneously.

Here are the seller's pictures:

The Rokuoh-Sha type 89 is indeed a rare camera and this one comes with its original crate and a few cartridges, although I have seen a few of them offered for sale lately (there is one on eBay right now).

Cheers!

That makes sense because film was cheaper than bullets?
