Afternoon Gentleman,

I was lucky enough to pick up a Konica III for a pittance but it does unfortunately have shutters so sticky that they need to be removed and cleaned. i've tried to look for instructions online but I havnt been able to find anything.

Normally i would try fix it and resell it but this camera is so lovely that if I can get it working I think I am going to keep it for myself and probably sell some of my other equipment to justify keeping it Very Happy

If there is anyone familiar with how this lens is disassembled I would really appreciate it, the front element literally screws off and there is a pivot screw that keeps what I think is a retainer ring in place, I'm not going to send it to get serviced as one in working condition will cost about the same as the service so it will be carried out by myself.

Any help would be appreciated

Or if someone knows of someone or another site that might be able to point me in the right direction that could also help

so I am happy to say I managed to clean and fix the Konica, quite proud of myself even if a did cost myself a good couple hours because I bent a critical part of the shutter mechanism and didn't notice!! Rolling Eyes

it was actually easier than I thought it was going to but now the rangefinder is out quite badly and again I can find any info on how to correct it. I was hoping there would be an adjustment screw under the flash shoe but no such luck! any in site from anyone?

Regret unable to assist with your repair. I own a Konica III, and I am the original owner. But I've never taken the camera apart.

I can tell you, even when the camera was brand new, the film advance would sometimes hang up . . . . . especially if I tried to go too fast. No bigee. Just something to watch for.

I did come across that thread on the search for repair notes Smile the one I have doesn't seem to have that issue at this point at least.

I opened up the top cover and I think I have an idea of what to do but I'll wait to see if some info comes up first before blindly trying, the components are nicely laid out I must say.

I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I managed to fix the rangefinder, seems it was a spring that changed position.

I've noticed something else the bulb setting only works if the camera is upside down?? I'm guessing something's lose.

I nominate you as the resident Konica III expert. Wink

I wish I could help. Confused

lol I've just spent the last 30min turning the camera upside down and up to see what's changing position but I'm going to drive myself mad!!

to be frank its a very nice camera to work on, everything is well laid out and easy to reassemble, the shutter and aperture system took the longest out of all and figuring out how it comes apart.

Hello Layer-cake!

Recently I became a lucky owner of Konica IIIA with the scucked leaf shutter and wrong rangefinder also. As you are the only person who solved the shutter problem who I found in google - may I ask you to share some photos of what you have done (disassembling, cleaning, etc) if you have some?

I'even decided to register on this site to be able to ask that )

So yeah! Please: share photo's (or detailed description of what you did) ! I am very curious !

I am here with the same camera, with a none working shutter (?) At least: the film-advance has been cocked, but the shutter does not release even though in the viewfinder the battery-sign is green. The self-timer is tried but didn't get any reaction either.

Oh: the film-reverse-knob is pushed in and does not return but I guess that only happens when the fiilm is to be advanced, which doesn't happen because the shutter doesn't release... Am I right?

Now to have that shutter release, possibly without taking the thing apart...

Any help with this cute camera is welcome !! Smile
