I've found the results on my Spotmatics very pleasing, but the nearest distance isn't very close (1.4m/ 4.5ft). It's a very short and lightweight lens for a fast 100mm. It's about the size of the early postwar Biotar 75/1.5, which wasn't particular heavy.
Probably the 100/1.8 is an Ernostar design, like most fast telephotos made by Komura. I've just seen a diagram from the 100/2.0 which was made in 1964, some years before, but looks very similar to the 100/1.8 from outline.
All of them seem to be in small S/N range of about 65,xxx-66,xxxx. Probably production was ~ 1,000 or lower.

The rear element is really large, but far from the lens mount. I suspect that the Exakta Unidapter mount I have on it for use on my Topcon "constrains" the light somewhat, due to the small "throat" of the Exakta mount. |

My 105/2.0 is in the same range. I don't think the whole range of numbers was filled.

Over 20 diaphragm blades for the 1.8 quoting the seller.
