Took these photos to test the camera.
Unfortunately the rangefinder needs adjusting so I had to estimate distances.
Seems to work nicely, now I just need to adjust the rangefinder.

Lens, shutter and cocking film advance seem OK.
No haze problem I can see in your results.

So those are the main worries for a Retina.

The rangefinder adjustment isn't so bad, usually, unless there is damage to the linkage (from the lens mount to the RF mechanism).

Its just one screw for setting infinity.
Its more of a problem if the mechanism is gummed up.

This is the correct procedure, I have done it his way -

Thank you Luis, these are nicely illustrated instructions. My camera is slightly different since it is a II model and not
the IIa. I will look at it tomorrow. There is a wind on knob, not a lever and the frame counter is under the top cover.
It was not working properly.

How can I tell if there is damage to the linkage?

Your version is probably very similar.

You should be able to see a rod that contacts the "arm" of the rangefinder.
It should be obvious if it is bent or if its not moving correctly as you focus.

Great photos! Which Retina II is it? Is it a prewar one with an Ektar lens, a Xenar?

Thank you! Glad you liked them. My camera has the f:2/50 Xenon lens.

Well, I adjusted the rangefinder and it seems fine now.
The only problem is that a washer or spacer fell out and I don't know where it goes.
Here are some photos, but I don't know if that will help at all.
I doubt any one will recognize that part and where it goes, but any suggestions how to proceed will be welcomed.

Very nice photos, uddhava. They reopened my film nostalgia... Smile
This little old camera and its lens looks very capable.

Thank you.
I hope I can put it back together properly after adjusting the rangefinder.

Here is a little more information. The piece fell off when I foolishly turned the camera upside down
trying to remove a loose screw stuck in the rangefinder housing.
At that time the shutter release and the frame counter dial fell out along with the washer.
I do not know if they have some connection. The shutter release fits over a rod the the washer could
fit over as a spacer.

Well I tried that option and it seems to have worked. The camera is back together again.
Unfortunately a piece of kneaded eraser that I used to put the part on fell into the front of the camera
and I can't find it. Hope it shows up. Wink
