I see there is a Kiron 24mm f/2 on sale in Canon mount. 54,99 EUR 12 hours left no bids.
Click here to see on Ebay

I wonder why since I hear its a good lens and it looks in good condition.

I don't, because it's Canon FD mount - unuseable on any digital camera.

I don't, because it's Canon FD mount - unuseable on any digital camera, except perhaps Olympus (don't know for sure).

Embarassed Didn't know Canon had different mounts for digital and older film cameras.
Why would they do that?

It does not have to do with digital vs. film.
When automatic "multimode" cameras became the fashion of the moment, some makers (like Nikon) decided to maintain a partial compatibility with their fully manual lens mount, while others (like Canon and Minolta) decided to abandon the old mount and make a brand new one.
The official reason for the latter choice was that a brand new mount allows for a more complete and efficient implementation of the new features, while adapting the old mount would have meant to make compromises.
The real reason, however, I suspect is marketing.
The advent of the EF mount pre-dates the advent of digital of several years. A full line of film EOS cameras was released before the first digital Canon reflex came out.

Thanks for the explanation!

You're welcome.
My suspicion of a marketing decision is reinforced by the shorted register distance of the EOS cameras compared to FD.
What other better way of forcing customers to buy again lenses, than making the register distance too short for the use of the previous lenses without an additional optics?
So they would sell new lenses to the professionals and more dedicated amateurs, and to the others, they would sell the optical adapters... Twisted Evil

Yes but on the other hand the short register distance makes the EOS body a good platform for all sorts of other lenses (with adapters).
While the Nikon is much more constrained in the choice of 'different mount' lenses (mainly some medium format ones).

You are quite right Chris and that's the reason I am supplementing (NOT replacing) my nikon with a Canon. But I will not have a canon lens - I really dislike the fact that they have had three different mounts in the past 20 years with one being totally unusable - it's the main reason I went nikon in the first place. My nikon collection is pretty much done (one big and expensive hole is the 85/1,4) and now I am playing M42 I shall use the canon for those. BTW the P6 mount lenses on the nikon are very amusing - the Sonnar180 is absolutely huge. They also seem to work pretty well, but I cannot test properly until spring gives me more light and colour.
