I'll unpack it as soon as I arrive home...
It's quite big, much bigger than the other rangefinders.

And I've also received the M39 to EOS adapter for the Jupiter-9...
It looks like today was my birthday and these were presents... Wink

Best regards.
Jes.

Thanks, guys!
I've gotten home and unpacked the FED. It's very nice, I love this oldish look.
Now I have to read the docs. I tried to open it but I wasn't successful... Not as simple as the other "standard" ones...
The rangefinder seems to work quite well. All the knobs are in good state and the general aspect is "healthy".
Let's try now the Jupiter-9...
Best regards,
Jes.

OK, Jes. Please never change the shutter speed without cocking the shutter!
(One can't say that often enough...)

And then you want to use a M39-Jupiter-9 at your FED-2 for which you have bought an M39-EOS-adapter?

OK, either you cannot use the J9 at your FED-2 or you will only be able to use the J9 (with the adapter) for close-up at your EOS.

You know that, don't you?

Hi Carsten!
Yes, I'm fully aware of the shutter speed problem. I know now what "cocking" does mean, thanks for recalling it!.

My Jupiter-9 is a rave, (now is sure). It's M39 but not for rangefinders (it has the register size for SLRs), that's why I bought an adaptor for the EOS. The first tests are very discouraging: blurred images, focusing touch that hooks at different points... I'd like to try it with bright sunligth to see if there is any difference. But my expectations are very low. I can see now the halo, dim and narrow but halo at the end. It seems mechanically touched, like if someone tried to fix it. On the other hand, I don't know any reliable tech service to bring it for evaluation and repair.
My friend Juanma, (the one that was after a Jupiter-9 past days) finally got one by 50€. So probably I'd to look for something similar.
I'ts very discouraging to think you got a nice shot and perceiving the failure by just looking at the LCD.

Let's concentrate then in the rangefinders and film cameras. Already sent the film taken witht the Chinon 35EE to the lab. It will take 4 long days.
Now I'm trying the Zenith with the 44-2.

Best regards,
Jes.

I'm really sorry, Jes, that your J9 is such a disappointment for you.
It seems that the J9 comes in very different quality.

Me too... At the end, if it doesn't work well under sunlight, will be sent to Attila in the hope he will do a decent burial for it...
Best regards,
Jes.
