Love this lens, and lovely portrait Smile very nice
I have a copy with 5106547 SN and it was assembled by russian for sure (with german glasses? I don't know), because it hasn't "wings" on diaphragm ring and numbers on optical block is engraved by hands. Otherwise, it has bronze ring and same coating colours of zeiss Sonnar.. My favorite lens! Razz

Thanks .
Mine is from 1970 build in Zagorsk ( ZOMZ ). So much a common lens compared to yours. On A7 mine is never really sharp in the corners . So unfortunately it is not so versatile. But i like this lens.

How do you know that? Are there books about this? Are there documentaries about this? Were you one of the people in captivity?

I want to learn more about all of this, anyone has books/reading recommendation?

It's well known that many machinery, camera, lenses and many things have been transfered to KMZ ( and then distributed to different plants) from Germany after the war. Ingeniers also was part of the transfered materials.

Especially KMZ learned a lot about effective production from zeiss worker, and they quickly enhanced their efficiency regarding to quality.

You can find infos on Zenitcamera site, on Jean-loup Princelle book, fir exemple...

The ones made from Zeiss glass were marked as ZK - "Zonnar Krasnogorsky", not Jupiter-3.

Jupiter -3 from 50 and 51 are late Zk. They still have mecanical parts from Zeiss, like those ears on diaphragm ring. Also coating is slightly different from Jupiter-3 after 1951. So many elements leads to think that glasses are zeiss. But naturely we can't be sure 100%.
You should check sovietcams site, all jupiter-3 models are shown.

Here is an example from my Jupiter-3 (version M39/LTM) produced 1964 by ZOMZ. Focus was set to the red rose in the middle.

WO at F1.5:

I would consider my lens as a good copy (there are crap ones available as well).
