Well, this is roll #2 I collected from the ma and pa place that develops 120
film. Still practicing loading a junker roll on reels, and have to say, I don't
think I like the stainless steel ones I have. One is a Nikor, and the other is
a me-too Hewes design, both pretty much suck as to ease in loading.

Anyhoo, these are from the Agfa Isolette 4.5 using Fomapan 100 film:

This is after I cleaned all three elements of haze and am using the hood
I got from England to help control flare.

I like to wait for others to reply and then......

" I agree with the above comments!" Very Happy
(makes me look like I know what I am talking about)

Actually, I prefer the color shots of this area that you have posted.
I think you lose to much in the trees when using B&W. The black and grey all just starts to run together. In color the green would provide more contrast. Of the shots you posted, I like the first one the best. This is probably because you do not have heavy/deep shadowed areas, like in the other photos.

Did you ever determine the age of the camera?
The lens seems to have cleaned up rather nicely!

Mike, thanks for dumping all over my pictures! Laughing There's only one pic
that is just trees the others have a building crammed in it, but yes, I know
what you mean about B&W forest pics.

Yep, the lens cleaned up nicely, rather happy that the glare is at least
reduced.

Thanks again,

Bill

I certainly don't see any glare, Bill!

I'm wondering though, about that "grain", for instance in the first image. I think that, with Fomapan and with the wonderful Isolette's lens (do you have the Apotar?) the image should be much more clean. I'm tending to think that the people processing the b&w are making a mistake somewhere; I don't know much about what to look for as "results" from processing mistakes, but this just doesn't look like a camera or lens problem to me.

The only other thing could be the scanner, I guess? But I couldnt' see a scanner adding grain to an image like that.

Anyway, in a WAY I like the effect! I suppose there are photographers who would like to be able to bring an image into that effect! Cool But, of course, the image would be awfully nice as a "grain-free" image.

The last image is the one that's starting to look pretty darn good! The shadow detail and contrastual elements look very nice. There is still "something" going on though - could it be dirty chemicals? The light area in the window looks almost like a "bad mix" of processor...

I would love to see more as you go onward, Bill!

Larry, be careful what you wish for! Laughing You may have a valid point about
the processing, but they are the *only* ones in town to process BW 120
film or 35, for that matter. I have yet to do my own developing and then I'd
have only myself to blame.

Thanks for your comments! Smile

The first one is a bit disconcerting until you see the focus is inside. I'm not too sure about the rest of them, as in the high contrast robs them of a lot of visual appeal.
It's just a personal preference, mind.

Dave, thanks for your comments, I plan on reworking these and changing
them out if I think they are better. Still need some practice processing BW
negs.

I'm glad there are others here into these folders and TLRs ... despite the digital challenges they pose, with the scanning and so on.

In the first photo, it seems like scanner noise to me, perhaps the negative is underexposed? LOL in a zone system maybe you'd have chosen the photo to be very dark save the daylight bits... which would then make the scanner noise disappear.

It's a good camera with a remarkable lens you have there.

Nesster, I'm going to scan some of these negs again tonight and use the
adjustments in the Epson software prior to scanning, will see what shakes.
Will be ordering the variable height and included ANR glass very soon from
BetterScanning.

I find it very hard to judge a lot of B&W images. I think my favorite of all these is the last one in the first series Bill.

I agree, Ron, the last one first set is probably the best one in the roll.
