Hi Victoria,
I did not forget you. Took several soakings and a lot of fingernail prying but I did get the pieces apart. I am thinking that you should try to cut it with an Exacto Knife around the edge until it comes loose then carefully work the rest off. The heat gun is not a bad idea but you need to be careful. Maybe wrap the lens in a wet paper towel as a heat sink.

If I need to use heat to loosen a tiny screw I use the pointed tip of an electronics soldering iron on the screw head. Works a treat, and no excess heat to damage anything else or melt the grease.

+1000! Use hot air gun after masking may be more efficient heat transfer, but solder iron tip gives more control

How many watts, Lloydy? Too few watts can do damage as can too many watts -- both cases, too much heat escapes the application point. Like with soldering components, the wattage is chosen to melt fast but not with so much heat component gets damaged...I guess about 30Watts 1mm tip for lens grub screws?
