Hello I want an 28mm f2 as normal for my nex and wonder what you recommend with ok sharpness wide open.

Vivitar series 1 28mm f1.9 , Konica UC Hexanon 28mm f1.8 sharp as well.
I guess Olympus OM 28mm f2.0 is sharp I didn't try it personally.
I remember for Nikon 28mm f2.0 as okay, usable.
Kiron 28mm f2.0 is okay usable.

The Vivitar VMC Series 1. 28 / 1.9 is superb. I also like my Soligor CD 28 / 2, but the Vivitar is way better.

I have both the Vivitar VMC Series 1 28/1.9 and the Vivitar 28/2.0 Close Focus (Komine version). I love both wide open, but I think I prefer the 2.0. I might end up selling the 28/1.9...

I cannot comment on the other lenses, but I have a zuiko 28/2.
I absolutely love it, and even though I've never done any actual testing or pixel peeping, it always struck me as rather sharp as I like to shoot wide open.

At f/2 handheld, no PP

Not the best image but gives you an idea. And I know you're looking for sharpness, but the contrast and color wide open are great.
I got mine for $125 and it's one of my go-to lenses on my APS-C.
I have heard great things about the vivitar 2/28 but they actually go for decent prices it seems.

About the same here. I have both the VS1 28/1.9 and the V 28/2 CF (Komine) (both in K-mount trim), and, while I have had the V 28/2 CF for only a short time, I am starting to like it better than the VS1 28/1.9.

[I also have the Pentax K 28/2, which is something special, too, and the Pentax K 28/3.5, which is a top-notch "slow 28", so I have started trying to run comparison tests to see just who will stay and who will go...]

Pentax K 28/2, Contax 28/2 Hollywood(basically the same lens), I really liked my Leica M 28/2.8 on my NEX-7, you could find a 28 Cron, Canon S 28/2 LTM, Rokkor 28/2.5, (edit) I would also add that the X-Fujinon 28/1.9 to my list.

Look for a Schneider Super-Cinelux. They come in a lot of lengths, I have a 2/30mm a 2/37.5mm and a few others, there are wider ones down to 24mm.

You won't find anything with more sharpness at f2.

30mm on NEX-3, albeit with some PP:

PostPosted: Fri Sep 25, 2015 12:45 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

And at 30mm focal length that's perfect normal for nex.

I was going to suggest Nikkor 28/2, which competes favorable among other great suggestions, bears mention.

Some excellent suggestions already.
You might like to also consider the X-Fujinon 1.9/28.
A very capable performer even at wide open.

Yes, it's an interesting story how the Pentax K 28/2, the Zeiss 28/2, and the Contax 28/2 all started out with the same design (from the same designer, Dr Erhard Glatzel).

It seems some people think highly of the Komine 28 and some dont....

No lens will do it's best at most wide open aperture.
One stop down & optical performance increases, so You need a 1.4:

only 5.500€ recommended price here in Germany

hope, my suggestion did help You

28 cron WO on Nex 5

DSC08092 by unoh7, on Flickr

28/2 is superb normal for nex. Baring the 2200 it takes to get this lens, I would seriously consider either the CV 28/1.9 or CV 28/2

I also had Kiron 28/2 and Nikon AIS 28/2 but these were a shadow to the cron.

oysters by unoh7, Nikon AIS 28/2 Nex 5

You will pay several hundred extra for the CV over a bargain SLR 28/2 but it is so much smaller the usefulness is greatly enhanced.

For fun, as I know it's not the budget, again the 28 cron on the Nex 5-n:

My Silver by unoh7, on Flickr

Some members here told me I was a complete fool to buy this lens Smile

Supposedly it still rules the 28 Lux....but not at F/1.4 Wink

Certainly, overall the best 28mm lens I've ever seen, if you have the right body. Importantly for landscape work, it is one of my best lenses at F/11 also.

If I could not have it, here would be my next stop:

worth every penny. Smile But if you are patient it looks like you can get this or the F/2 for around 350USD, which is a steal. Prices have dropped.

the fast 28mm I had:

Vivitar 2/28 CF (Komine made)
Kiron 2/28
Fujinon EBC 1.9/28
Konica UC Hexanon 1.8/28
Contax Planar 2/28 (Hollywood)
Minolta AF 2/28

I think all of them are sharp enough wide open. I couldn't see a huge difference between Vivitar (Komine) and Kiron.. both are sharp enough wide open. The Fujinon was a bit above them, but only if you have the chance to directly compare them. I sold all three of them only because I used my other more. The UC Hexanon and the Zeiss aren't this much sharper wide open, but they have a more pleasant rendering for me and a better coating. The Minolta is my only 28mm with AF.. that's why I keept this one.

Vivitar had a few folks make their 28/2 lens. You are looking for lenses that has a serial number that starts with 28. Vivitar had a 2 digit code that noted the manufacturer.

Yes very good deal. +1 to either the Komine 28/2 or the Nikon 28/2. Both which I have and seems to satisfy my criteria for usable sharpness wideopen. Although those Leica results is causing me to question my satisfaction :p

That's certainly a good recommendation.
I am rather satisfied with mine:

Most probably the best option in terms of quality/price ratio.

Wide open sharpness of my Vivitar made by Kiron, serial starting with 22, is also impressive. On the net the Komine is the preferred one though

The Nikon 28mm f2 AIS is one of the best MF wides for full frame Nikon users, which means there is more demand for them which probably pushes up prices. For a Nex user I would recommend looking at lenses with obsolescent mounts, unless you are planning to get a full frame Nikon camera at some point.

Honestly, if f2 performance is what you need, get a Super-Cinelux, stick it in a cheap Chinese helicoid and you're good to go. It will make all the expensive leicas and others look overpriced and underwhelming. The Super-Cinelux is a current product and they cost over 2,600USD new, on ebay they can be had for 20-30eu.

https://www.schneideroptics.com/ecommerce/CatalogSubCategoryDisplay.aspx?CID=86

Design and performance is state of the art with aspherics and exotic glasses.

There are dozens of Vivitar 28's, and several 28/2's. The best 28/2 is the Komine-made "1:28/2.0 Close Focus Wide Angle", with 28 for the first two SN digits, just as RnR said. The other 28/2's are all Kiron-made and the first two digits are 22.

Be aware that there is also a Komine-made "1:28/2.8 Close Focus Wide Angle", too, which is labeled on its bezel exactly the same way (except, of course, for "2.8" vs "2.0"), but would not be the 28/2 you're looking for.

Personally I found the regular Vivitar 28/2 lenses from Kiron and Komine unacceptable wide open. I haven't tried the close focus version though, which is supposed to be better.

Tried the CV Ultron 28/1.9 which was nice, but a pretty long MFD of a metre or so. Worked nicely on the nex-5n I used it with at the time though.

My favourite on a cropper though is the Nikon 28/2. I owned a non-ai version and it was very sharp from wide open. Wished I never sold it, but I was focusing on ff gear at the time.
