This is one of the first times (I can recall) that I have stopped the Tamrom SP f5.6 300mm down to f8. This isn’t full frame the bird was filling about half the frame and the image was resized up at Raw conversion. Does it get any sharper ? I suppose it would if I could fill the frame!

Crop of image at 100%

This afternoon I bumped into my friend and his Sigma AF 170-500 APO on the Nikon D50. I was armed with the Fujinon f4.5 400mm. It was a massacre Even on the cameras LCD the result was obvious so he did a runner after three shots, but he did keep to his word and mailed me RAW files from his camera. I will post the pics later tonight as soon as I have done them.
The Sigma 170-500 APO isn't a bad lens, in fact it is one of their better ones but against real glass!!!

Ouch! That's sharp!

A prime lens against a zoom lens? Oh come on, two different leagues... Wink
Hope you did not frighten your friend away from photography. Very Happy

Carsten

Yeah, Tamron SP 300mm one of the best in this category, I always say.
