Are you left or right eye dominant?

I'm very left dominant and find using my right eye difficult, this does have the unfortunate effect of placing my nose in such a position that it sometimes hits the control pad on y D200. At least with manual focusing I don't change focus point just as I hit the shutter... Razz

Hi Richard,

I'm not left eye dominant, but due to the normal loss of sigth with age, I'm unable of focusing with my rigth eye, so I'm somewhat dominated by the need of focusing with my left eye. I always use to forget this and always start looking through the viewer by the right eye first...
No much problem with the 350D, anyway.
Best regards,
Jes.

Even if I'm right eye dominant, my nose hit some buttons on the left of my 350D back screen... Confused

No, I am right-eye-dominant.
But what I realise is that my eyesight gets fuzzy after a long shooting session. Shocked
I seem to have difficulties then to focus without the cam with both eyes.

Since I use a magnifying eyepiece at my 350D, my nose is a little farer away from the cam than normally.

I am left eye dominant and focus with left eye. No problem.
It was more a problem in the army with gun, I had to use my right eye.

I wonder whether camera designers think of nose position? Or perhaps I just have a prominent proboscis Laughing

It's a good job nobody has given me a gun - even at four yards my right eye is a good foot out ( for metric neighbours: at four metres my right eye is a good third of a metre out )...

I was going to suggest this. You can check the list of Nikon accessories yourself, Richard, but Canon certainly make an eyepiece magnifier and also an angled eyepiece - both would keep your nose away from the buttons. But they're not cheap! There is an older Olympus OM system eyepiece magnifier which I understand fits all makes and goes relatively cheaply on Ebay.

Have you tried using the camera upside down and firing the shutter with your left thumb?

thanks - It's not a problem using manual focus, and only a minor occasional issue with AF, I just sometimes manage to move the focus point from centre to the left when holding in landscape format...

If you rely on manufacturers and tell them that, probably they will include a new addon for the cams... "The nose trimmer". Wink
They like to satisfy market demand...

Or perhaps a "Nose Reduction System". Wink
Maybe they'll market the "Nose Ninja" plugin Laughing

I was always using my right eye before using MF Lenses. But I figured that almost all my pics were defocus on my subject... Embarassed

I am wearing glasses (terrible, I can't see cleary after one meter !) and since I tried with my left eye (which is better) my results are pretty good !

I know now why we've got two eyes : the second is a remplacement to the first one if necessary ! Very Happy

So I am officialy now a left eye dominant.

Thanks God, the focusing screen of the Pentax K10D is large and bright.
