ATM I am digging through a Zenit-EM that had a broken shutter. The problem : both shutter ribbons that hold the second curtain, ripped and need to be reattached. I have managed to change the ribbons them selves, however I am indeed puzzled on how to attach them. My main concern which is the right spot on the rollers for the ribbon attachment, as I have not had a chance to mark the original place where the ribbons were.

Does anyone know a good site where this issue is discussed ? I`ve already checked the fedka, rangefinderforum and a few leica repair guides, however none addresses this problem.

I have a service manual for the "Zenith E" in english. I remembered it definitely had a section on replacing the shutter curtains. I checked this morning though and one of the first steps is to note where the old ribbon is attached to the drum. Doesn't seem like it will help with your problem. If you still would like the manual I can send it along. Just PM me your email.

It might be in the book by Isaak S. Maizenberg "All You Need to Know About Design and Repair of Russian Cameras" , if you haven't already got a copy?

I did manage to download a copy a while back, but the link is dead now. I'm sure someone will be hosting a copy for download somewhere.

It's a good read. Wink

I do believe I have that copy somewhere, however as I remember it does not cover the whole solution as to how determine the exact spot of the shutter ribbons.
