It has quite strange behavior: It is super sharp in center at F4, and not so good at corners, but when stopped down, instead of corners improving, center gets worse, so at F8, whole image is equally bad. _________________ I have nothing to compensate with lens |

Of course the Minox Minotar/Minoxar (has nothing to do with Contax!) is the lens to go with. Find a broken Minox 35 (there are lots of them, most of them have problems with the electric contacts), take off the lens, glue the shutter wide open, remove all non-necessary parts and adapt it on a C-mount adapter. You won't need machining skills, and you'll be surprised by the results. |

I had adapted a Minotar to Leica M so that I can use it on both my mirrorless cams ( Ricoh GXR M and NEX5n )
I was really taken aback by the strong contrast loss and easy flare when used against light. Later learned that earlier Minox cameras like the 'EL' I had used as donor cam had used single coated, later models multi coated lenses. So anyone who wants to adapt this lens I'd advice to get a late model _________________ my photos on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/collections |

Well, you can't have it all, can you? Shooting against light is tricky with almost any lens, only top league players are satisfactory in that respect, I'm afraid... In the meantime, enhancing contrast is easy in PP, and flare can be used artistically |

My Minotar shots were a little flat, auto contrast sorted that out nicely as you can see. And its a remarkably sharp lens. The great thing with this lens is its so easy to adapt as the aperture is separate from the shutter, many arent.
I bought a lens hood for it - what a waste of time. A pathetic afterthought that fits but comes off every time you focus. _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |

An exotic but not unreasonable suggestion. The Xenons were made for the ROBOT automatic SLR cameras. Like any S-K lens I have ever sen they are the top in quality, both in construction and in optics. They are old style chromed brass construction. These lenses use an M26 screw mount that Kipon sells an NEX adapter for.
The 38mm 1:2.8 lens and mount together extend 1-5/16 in from the NEX mount. This is an earlier single coated lens. My copy cost $169.00 on Ebay.
The 40mm 1:1.9 lens and mount together extend 1-5/8 in from the NEX mount. This is a multi-coated lens. My copy cost $161.00 including shipping on Ebay.
Both are larger than an Industar 69 on an M39 mount, still the smallest NEX combo I have found, but I wouldn't wish the Industar lens on anyone. _________________ Steve

1. The 38mm 1:2.8 lens and mount together extend 1-5/16 in from the NEX mount. This is an earlier single coated lens. My copy cost $169.00 on Ebay. Here it is mounted on an NEX-6.

3. Here is a comparison of the 38mm lens and mount with an Industar 69 on an M39 mount. Still the smallest NEX combo I have found but I wouldn't wish the Industar lens on anyone.

well, it was also on my post .
I wish also to remember your requirements that led me suggest a I-69 or some disposable camera lens:

Inexpensive - I mean bargain ,old school, one that can be found at pawn shop and so on. Less than $50. Preferably, better than $10 Smile For "serious" shooting, I have native lens, so I'm looking for tiny, inexpensive, trashy lens. |

for the I-69, remember you have to shorten an adapter (I bought one attached to its camera, and used the camera mount instead of the internal ring of the adapter). It is worst than the 22, but... tiny and right focal length for all purposes. Another one I badly adapted is the 40/2.8 from a Ricoh rangefinder, but overall size is slightly more. _________________

Can usually be found for $10+

The M42 is small but you need a big adapter, the M39 version just has the adapter built in.
Here's a good comparison:
