It was a beautiful day today up here in Holland so I went by scooter to AMSTERDAM with both lenses (M42) and a NEX-3.
Left at 09.00 was back at 14.00. I can recommend Amsterdam! Very Happy
All pics were NOT postprocessed! The only thing I sometimes did was crop a bit.
I know that I could have improved on the quality by postprocessing in CS6,
but I wanted to show the potential of these lenses (out of the box...so to say Surprised ) PIC.heavy

Nice series, the Hoya appears to be an interesting lens.

I've always had mixed views on the few Hoya lenses I've got. I seem to get a far lower success rate with them, but the good shots are very good. This short zoom seems good though.
I like the idea of a 300 mirror, it's a very useful length on a NEX. This Panagor looks good.

I have two of the Hoya short zooms, one in m42 and the other in Canon mount, both fixed mounts. There is just something about Hoya lenses I cannot resist. They are beautifully constructed lenses.

Also want to see more from the Hoya.
I have a 70-150 that I need to try more.

Well I am a little bit disappointed with Hoya results. I have Hoya HMC f2.8/28mm and it's perfect lens.

That Sony mirrorless camera which you are using has sensor with big resolution I think. In that case images small like these have to be very sharp or super sharp in case of good focus. I don't think this is that case.

It's relatively cheap lens and I like it's focal length range. I wanted to buy it but now I think I changed my mind Rolling Eyes

Is Hoya 25-42mm the same lens as Tokina 25-50mm ?

No. But it is optically the same as Sun 24-40.

Good to know, thanks. I used to think Hoya = Tokina.

Agreed, calvin83. I have both lenses and there are strong similarities, just as you say.

However, the Hoya lens is a more beautiful lens than the Sun.

BTW, I am finding neither of these lenses to be as readily available for sale as was the case a couple of years ago. Current owners are, it would appear, hanging on to these. Both the Hoya and the Sun are great lenses.

Mirror hard to focus? Very shallow depth - challenging. Pictures were too small for me to tell how it compares to my Makinon.
