What would you say if I told you that I have found a good condition (glass and mechanics perfect, barrel wear) 2/28 "Hollywood" Distagon for 170 Euros? Smile
Which is less than half the typical Ebay price (400-450) and less than a third of the typical shop used price (600)

It will be my second copy. I already have one of this lens and it's one of my most loved lenses. I didn't plan about getting a second copy but when I saw it at THAT price, I could not just leave it there. Now I am seriously considering to resell it and make a really large profit, for once.
But once it will be in my hands, I don't know... Rolling Eyes

Congratulations, Orio!

Hi,

I am curious why it is called a 'holywood' lens? Is it a cine prime?

Because Glatzel derived the concept of the optical scheme from an Arriflex lens (Zeiss produces the lenses for the Arriflex cine-camera system)

Well, the "new" Holly has arrived at noon, and, apart from some brassing on the barrel (and some dust which I was too lazy to blow off), there is... nothing!
A 738 Euros lens for a price of 170 !

I just tested it - it is just as great as the other one I already have. Now I think I am settled with 28mm lenses for all my life!

Thanks for the link Orio. Every time I return to Marco Cavina's site I find new interesting (read: GAS-inducing) readings.

Cheers!

I made a closeup test with the new lens. Wide open. Wanted to test the bokeh quality and the sharpness in the focused area. Tested on the 5D:
