I found there's a remarkable difference between Arista and Kodak/Fuji
film. Fujicolor and Kodak Gold seem to have much smaller grain. Here's
two from Arista 400 color film roll:

Konica T4/UC Hexanon 80-200 zoom

Wow, that's like 400 grainy film of 40 years ago. It reminds me of Orwo (iirc) - dirt cheap, but grainy as hell.

Yes, its grainy but it has its own charm. Is doesn't make a picture to be bad (because of the grain) Wink
Congrats, especially for the rose.

Grain, in moderation, often adds character to a shot. I like the grain on the rose, it is the leaves in the background that take away from the shot.

Yeah, I'm running and screaming to better film and following Jules' suggestions.

What cheap film I have left will serve as practice dummies in loading
reels.

Are you also going to try the slide film and scan it?

Ron, yes, slide film is definitely on my dance card for my next order from
Freestyle, both 120 and 135.

The grain doesn't look too bad in the cat shot - nice specimen of the feline species. I fell it distracts in the second one.

This is what I was getting with basic Fuji 400 when I pushed it too hard - so it can happen with some of the good stuff too.

Jim, I placed an order with Freestyle yesterday: Reala 100, Provia 100F,
Sensia 100, Fujicolor Pro 160, just to name a few.

I wonder, has any one tried the Kodak UC film series? UC stands for
Ultracolor.
