Because of all the undergrowth I find it easier to work with 300mm rather than anything longer it was hard enough getting position with the 400mm Fujinon. I would hate to try it with a huge 500 Takumar. Someone I know well has the Canon f4 500mm. He loves it of course but he hardly gets any wildlife pics with it. By the time he sets up, everything has gone. He can never take a hike through the woods with it, Only use is for Sanctury hides where you can get good pics with 200mm anyway. The next outing for my Fujinon will be when the duck chicks hatch. A stretch of water gives you a good clear field of view.
