I can attest, at least with the few dozen images that I've already taken with my "new" Tamron 70-210, that I'm totally speechless about the CLARITY of BOTH ends of the zoom range! I'm really usually hesitant to keep zooms, but this one is SURELY a keeper.

It will be especially handy as a "one lens" moderate telephoto for my trips into the backcountry.

Sometimes this lens goes for a GREAT price/quality ration on the Bay...

Tamron SP 70-210mm f3.5 19AH it was excellent performer on Nikon D50 looks a prime lens, but wasn't same good on my Olympus E-1 so I sold it.

Interesting, Attila. Were you able to ascertain why it wasn't as good on the digital camera? Was it not as sharp and with beautiful bokeh somehow, or did it have to do with physical incompatibility with the Olympus system?

I ask this, because I hope to get a digital SLR in the near future, and would like to have all the knowledge available regarding lens compatibilities and performance.

Thanks, as always, for you wonderful contributions.

Laurence

I had two DSLR till this time Nikon D50 and Olympus E-1 seems Olympus more sensitive for lenses or my knowledge is better than before Smile I suppose sharpness, color rendering was better on Nikon D50 with Tamron lenses than on Olympus E-1. Might be just I have many better lens now and I can see the difference.Lens is good or not good really subjective matter especially if difference is not to high.On a boring subject nobody can show me good lens, also on exciting subject handled by a good photographer almost every lens is superb performer.
