That's ridiculous..... with that price plus your probable developing cost I would give up using 35mm film.

+1 too much. Here color film from 1 -10 USD depend from purchase place and type of film. I use either cheap super market film and enhance it on computer or expired pro film from Ebay in both case average cost is 2-3 USD maximum+ developing cost 4-5 USD.

That is my dilemma....I don't have the Dslr yet to make it less costly...busy saving for it.You would fall over at the costs for developing then having the CD cost on top....a price to pay to keep film alive in Oz....Mind you I live in country NSW so you don't have the competition of a lot of stores.
Super market film is kodak or Fuji 200 or 400 only as your choice that's why when I saw the 100 I grabbed it.Even they go for $7.95 single roll of 200 -$13.00 for a three pack of 400.

I weigh all this cost up with I am enjoying the challenges of learning the film cameras/lens/techniques....I am in my 40's never done terribly much in life...raised/raising children have been my priorities in life as they are now getting older I am having more free time....so I figure I am going to spend some time and money on what I would like to do and challenge myself along the way....all in budget of course Very Happy

My husband allows me to pursue this to which I am grateful and why I am making mention of it... Wink
Oops a bit of a OT waffle Embarassed

I've got my film cost so low I don't mind getting through 5 rolls a week if necessary:-

Fuji superia 200 24 exp + developing:- total=£1.35, add £1 for CD.

How so cheap? bought 100 rolls of Fuji for £35 just slightly out of date and use the supermarket for developing for £1.

I am looking for a Pentax as all my lens are K mount and M42.There have been 2 K100Ds for $350-$395 price in recent weeks...I missed on the cheaper one. I have Patience.....I will get one camera or another in the end Very Happy
I do like Olympus so not ruled out completely.

There is a box of fuji 100 being sold for $199 on the bay at the moment. But that is half a camera so I won't buy it.

I was thinking it was a bit high myself, but I don't happen to know the AU=>US conversion rate.

I have some difficulty finding ISO 100 print film anymore unless I go to a camera shop. I can buy ISO 200 at places like Wal-Mart, though, for about $4US per roll of 24 exposures, maybe a buck or buck-and-a-half more for 36.

But even at a camera shop I can buy Ektar 100 in 36 exposure rolls for under $5 a roll, so I sure wouldn't be very inclined toward paying more than that for a run-of-the-mill roll of Fuji. Ektar's good stuff.

Thanks Fish I know I am blessed...children teach and challenge you so much Smile
I have a Ricoh TLS which is screw mount and as I am learning I can only use one camera at a time...although I can load a film into each if I wish...at the moment I have one color and one B&W...Your shots inspired me to have another go....and find some interesting objects.

Definitely give Kodak Ektar a try if/when you find it. It's economically priced, has very fine grain and good color, although not as saturated as other print films I've used. I've also noticed that, when I scan my Ektar negs with my Epson Scanner, the grays tend to take on a purple cast, requiring color correction in post processing. No worries, though -- it's easy enough to do. And well worth the added bit of trouble to have print film negs with such fine grain.

Well plenty of guys say "get the cheapest film as scanning and photoshop screw up the differences in makes".
For me, whether it's a placebo effect or not, I go for combos that work to get results I like:- e.g. hexanon lens +fuji Reala+Epson scanner and recently liked..... Fuji 800 press+Tak 35mm f3.5+epson scanner
