Flexaret VII question

Today i bought a very nice and goodlooking Flexaret VII, still in it's leather case which has hardly any signs of wear. Only thing missing is the "Flexaret filter" guide panel on the back.

Shutter speeds and aperture work fine, glass is clean, but the inside of the viewing lens/mirrorbox looks quite dark, a bit reddish in color. I think it is some kind of residue on the mirror.

Does anybody here know how to reach the mirror so i can eventually clean it to make focussing a bit easier?

Thank you!!

Hello, René:

First, congratulations on your purchase.

To access the mirror is to remove the focusing hood. This is attached to the camera with four screws. To access the screws has to remove the front skin.

For your assistance, I link you to this page that shows how the focusing screen is changed in a Flexaret VI:

http://concarrete.blogspot.com.es/2012/01/cambio-de-pantalla-de-enfoque-flexaret.html

I must tell you that in the Flexaret VII, the screw located in the upper right side holds a spring. You should find a way to hold said spring to return it put in place at the time of assembly.

In the event that the mirror is in poor condition, you can get a replacement from eBay seller:

Apologizing for the translation (I do not speak English), I hope I helped.

Regards,

Jordi.

Does VI and VII share the same mirror?

I can say yes. I can not say is if both have the same thickness.

In the case of having a different thickness, it is easy to recalibrate the lens focus: just loosen a screw that locks, located at its base, and rotate in either direction until it succeeds.

Jordi.

Thanks for the links!

I found a drawing on flickr, showing that the screws are behind the leatherette.... i hope i can keep it in one piece, don't want to ruin a very good looking camera!

Either way, i have to do it if i want to use it in the future.

Rick, yes please, do make a pic! I will do that too when i start working on it, let's turn this thread into a Flexaret VI + VII repair/help topic!

Is this what you're looking for?

Le I link to an article that long ago wrote in a forum Medium Format. I wish to write here but could not translate it:
