Nice one! Wow! Even though my Flektogon 25 is somewhat close to the same focal length, I think the "extra" 5mm is quite pronounced when you get toward the very-wide lenses.

Now...if they had made a Flektogon 15.... Rolling Eyes .. of course, I can imagine the size and weight, seeing as they would be trying to cut down distortion. I don't even know if it's possible with the Flek lens arrangements, probably at least very expensive for the manufacturer if it could have been made at all.

In M42 mount 4/20 common lens in zebra finish, this "star war" finish is very rare in any lens. Your 4/25 was the first one for Exakta and I see only a few copy in M42 mount.

@ Laurence: the wider you get, the more difficult to correct the distortions and also the optical defekts. This is why the superwide are so expensive.
The Flek 20 is I think a good compromise between width, compactness, and performance. There are sharper lenses (such as the Nikkor-UD 3.5/20 which is a very nice lens), but they are not so well corrected as the Flektogon.

@Attila: today I saw an Exakta Flek 25 in Star Wars finish, as you call it Smile (I don't like Star Wars so I call it differently) Wink

I have an Exakta mount Flek 4/20 and 2.8/35 with the Star Wars/pip type focus ring.

I've read that this finish was produced only 2 or 3 years in 60's... oh yes, MFlenses.com site has some words about it Wink

I think the "plastic" ring is kind of bakelite as it can be broken easily.

AFAIK the plastic is vulcanite - the same as the "leatherette" finish focus rings.

To me the hand grip reminds of the studs you sometimes find on the belts.
So I would prefer it to call it the "belt finish" Wink

Bizarre, I like it. Pips is more descriptive. How about the "ribbed for your pleasure model"

That would make all the pip ring CZJ telephoto lenses, especially the 180 Sonnar a big hit with the ladies.... Wink
